Welcome Back!

August 2016

Dear Sands Secondary Baseball Academy Parents and Students,

On behalf of the Delta School District, I would like to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year. I would also like to welcome back Kevin Dalgetty, Teacher Coordinator, and Coaches, John Haar and Bob Burkmar. I hope the summer provided time for fun and relaxation and students are now ready for a very successful academic and athletic year ahead!

The first day of school this year is Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 with the first Baseball Academy class starting on Thursday, September 8. Classes that day (and that day only) will run from 11:55-2:20 pm. Our busses will be able to pick up and take home students who need to be dropped off at Burnsview and Seaquam but unfortunately due to this altered time schedules the bus taking students back to the South Delta area will have to wait until the busses regularly scheduled Sands pick up time of 3:10 pm. This year the Baseball Academy classes will be every other afternoon on Day 2 in Blocks G and H. Students are expected to come prepared with their full gear, as this class will be on the field rain or shine!

Enclosed in your email home will be a Field Trip form. Please complete this form and have your child return it the first day of class to Coach Dalgetty or fax it back to Corinne Leary at604 940-5520. Also enclosed is a Baseball Academy Code of Conduct. Please read and discuss this with your son/daughter, then sign and return it to Coach Dalgetty on the first day of class. Please also sign the Bus Code of Conduct Form and return it as well on the first Academy class.

I would like to encourage parents and students to visit the Sands Secondary Baseball Academy website at: Sandsbaseballacademy.com This site provides information about the coaches, photos, a monthly calendar and a newsletter, which is updated at intervals throughout the year. The calendar will give you information about the location and focus for each class; however, this is subject to change based on the weather. We would encourage you to follow the Sands Baseball Academy on Instagram under: Sandsbaseball We would also like to include photos on our website of your son/daughter taken during Baseball Academy sessions but need parental permission to do so. The Delta School District requires all parents to complete a number of permission forms on-line through Parent Connect. Please be sure to do this before September 30th. The Permission Forms Information sheet will also be attached.

This year the Baseball Academy will be offering bus service to and from South Delta to Sands Secondary ($50/month) as well as from Seaqum to Burnview to Sands and back ($25/month). You will be sent an email regarding bus transportation payment.
